The most common size and chemistry battery for solar batteries, is AA NiCD. NiCD is the abbreviation for Nickel Cadmium and they are of course, rechargeable batteries. AA refers to the size of the battery.

AA NiCD’s are an ideal replacement to AA Alkaline batteries (which are non-rechargeable, also called single-use, throw-away or disposable), due to the fact that they drain less power than Alkalines do.
